The Story

How did you land your first job as a product manager?

I was always intuitively interested in the product manager role. When our product team came to gather my feedback about a certain feature, back when I was still a content editor, I started to ask more and more questions regarding the nature of the job. A year or so later I was offered the opportunity to transition into the role and I never looked back.

Did you ever build or lead any side-projects outside of work before becoming a PM?

Yes. Together with a few friends, we built a sports team called Inter Aliyah Tel Aviv, a club focused on integrating new immigrants into Israeli society through sports. Today, we have more than 100 active members across 3 teams, including a women’s team.

The challenge

What was the biggest challenge in your first year as a PM?

Not knowing where to look. There is so much information out there but nobody really tells you what to do. It’s up to you to figure it out on your own. In addition, because I don’t have a technical background, a lot of the terminology and concepts were completely foreign to me.
